Animal Assisted
Therapy
The use of therapy animals, especially dogs, has gained popularity in recent years. More and more therapists have been using therapy dogs as a part of the services they provide to children with special needs. Here at Therapy Junction, we began training our first dog (Willow) for animal assisted therapy (AAT) in 2013. AAT is recognized as a valuable therapeutic tool for countless professionals. Therapy dogs, and other animals can be found in mental health offices, nursing homes, dental offices, classrooms and even universities during finals week! Their value for improving client progress towards goals has been proven in many peer reviewed studies. We are so excited to have Willow and Denver a part of our team! Our dogs are registered with Pet Partners, an agency who tests their therapy animals every two years to ensure the animals continue to behave appropriately for the work they do.
